Tell us a little about yourself:
I work in the area of precision and systems medicine as an artificial intelligence and machine learning researcher. Having both a background in neurobiology as well as computer science helps me to tacke the challenging questions in the field. Currently, I am doing my PhD focusing on identification of digitally assessed sleep biomarkers and blood-based immune system-related biomarkers via various AI methods for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
I absolutely enjoy kayaking and rowing, hiking and being outdoors in general. Music has been a big part of my life, and I find a lot of joy in playing the piano. I am originally from Germany, but have lived in the UK and Switzerland, and love exchanges in culture and language.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I participated in an international rowing marathon last year in Germany.
Why did you choose to work in dementia research?
About 15 years ago my grandmother started showing the first symptoms of dementia. Knowing the tragic consequences that this causes first-hand, I decided to dedicate my studies and my efforts to contribute to research in dementia and neurodegenerative disorders, aiming to ultimately help people affected by these diseases.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
