Tell us a little about yourself:
I am originally from Puerto Rico, currently a 5th year PhD candidate in Dr. Silvia Fossati’s laboratory at Temple University School of Medicine interested in vascular contributions to Neurodegeneration. I am also an ISTAART Ambassador for the 2024-2025 cohort!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
Apart from scientific research, I am also a writer, translator and avid concert-goer.
Why did you choose to work in dementia research?
After coming from a cardio-focused background, I started working in dementia research when I started my PhD work. There are many questions left to be answered in the field, and I am eager to contribute knowledge to slow down the progression of this devastating disease.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
To keep an open mind: the chances of things occurring the way you envision/plan out are slim, and being able to adapt to change while working towards your goals is key!
What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
The New York Trilogy, by Paul Auster. 100% would recommend.
Favourite ways to unplug and unwind?
Cooking while my favorite records are playing.
Favourite film of all time?
I have two: The Devil Wears Prada (2006) and Skyfall (2012).
