I am in charge of public involvement at Alzheimer Europe. I started a month ago. I support inclusion and consultations of people with dementia and carers as part of European research projects and policy development.

Tell us a little about yourself:
I am Belgian. I am an anthropologist exploring health and ageing. I completed a PhD at University College London on social exclusion in later life and dementia. I worked for several years as an international consultant supporting the development of national strategies and interventions for healthy ageing across Asia and the Western Pacific with the WHO.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I love traveling, working in different countries and cultural contexts. I lived abroad for the past 8 years
Why did you choose to work in dementia research?
I attach much importance in supporting people experiencing health issues and their families. I always wanted to do something social and of public interest as a job. I realise how important accessible and affordable care is for families and individuals and I hope that my work can facilitate this in an ageing societies where this is and will continue to be an important challenge to address to support quality of life. I also have an interest and curiosity for research and public policy.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
Enjoy being a PhD student, focus on the process rather than the end result, this is a great chance you have to put your own values and interests in practice, and follow your own path.
