Tell us a little about yourself:
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the NIHR policy insitute in health and social care workforce at kings college london. My areas of interest include care for people living with dementia and the social care workforce who support them. I currently lead a project developing the role of dementia champions in homecare and I chair the Home Care Research Forum. My background is in psychology, and so prior to this, I have 10 years research experience working across large randomised controlled trials and qualitative projects in mental health, social care and policy. I specialise in the use of creative and visual methods to collect and communicate research to varied audiences, both nationally and internationally.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I couldn’t think of one so asked my husband and this was his response: ‘You know the words to every song, but just can’t tend to remember them when the song is playing and you’re expected to sing along’.
Why did you choose to work in dementia:
My grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease at the age of 90 and lived at home with support from her family and homecare, living to the grand age of 97.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
Value lived experience and try not to lose sight of the wider goals and potential for impact from your work.
