Tell us a little about yourself:
I am a UK Dementia Research cross-centre postdoctoral research associate based at King’s College London and Imperial College London. My role is to bridge the gap between the two centres and combine the technology developed at Imperial College London’s Care Research and Technology Centre with the clinical expertise in motor neurone disease at King’s College London.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I have a side-business developing and selling nail polish.
Why did you choose to work in dementia?
Although my work focuses on motor neurone disease, I became committed to the fight against neurodegenerative diseases after watching both my grandfather pass from vascular dementia and a older gentleman whom I helped care for during the night pass form Alzheimer’s diseases.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
Collect / screenshot the good things people say about you and your work and put it in a folder. Use the folder when you’re feeling demotivated or lacking confidence.
What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
Hacking healthcare. I would recommend to anyone that isn’t already working in the field.
