Tell us a little about yourself:

I believe that education is more powerful than medication, and our decisions are more powerful than our DNA – find out more about my work on my website https://drhelenapopovic.com. The research presented at AAIC supports this approach of empowering patients to play an active role in avoiding Alzheimer’s.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I am walking the Kokoda Track this August to raise money for mental health research. The more we can help people suffering from mental health problems, the more we reduce their risk of dementia.

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and mixed vascular dementia 15 years ago and I cared for him for the last 10 years of his life after my mother passed away with lung cancer.
