Glasgow born, live in Scottish Borders and a registered nurse since 1987. Retired from clinical work in 2019 but continues to work in research on a part time basis.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I’m totally deaf in one ear which comes in very handy at times.

Why did you choose to work in dementia research?

After a few years of working with younger adults opportunity arose to work in an older adult community team.

What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

Have a passion about a subject and use that as your direction and listen to those working hands on in the field.

What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?

Leave it to the hangman“, Bill Knox. If you enjoy Scottish crime fiction, this writer was one of the first.

Favourite film of all time?

Toss up between Casablanca and Local Hero.

Favourite ways to unplug and unwind?

Travel.
