The National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement & Reduction of Animals in Research is the UK’s national organisation for the 3Rs. A key deliverable for the NC3Rs is to train early career researchers so that they have an excellent understanding of, and commitment to, the 3Rs from the start of their careers. They also provide a range of e-learning resources for all levels of researcher to support high standards in the use and care of animals in scientific procedures and award CPD points for attendance at the events (virtual and in-person) they host.
In 2021 over 2 million mice were subjected to research procedures in the UK, so you can understand why it is important that training for the handling of mice is important. The NC3Rs is excited to launch a new refined mouse handling e-learning course, created by the NC3Rs and US-based 3Rs Collaborative (3RsC) in an international collaboration with academia and industry. The course is a comprehensive and accessible overview of the evidence base, benefits and practicalities of refined handling, for the mice, the handler and the research. Designed for anyone who works with mice in research at all levels of experience it should take no longer than 45 minutes to complete.
Take the CourseThe e-learning course should take about 45 minutes to complete.
