Doctoral Studentships: Spatial Cognition

Three Research Associate/Doctoral Studentships positions working on the SCALA network (Spatial Communication and Ageing Across Languages) at University of East Anglia.

Applications are invited for three PhD positions (funded by UKRI at MSCA EU Doctoral Candidate rates) on the SCALA network (Spatial Communication and Ageing Across Languages) jointly funded by EU MSCA and UKRI. Based at the University of East Anglia, UK the projects focus on investigating spatial communication in ageing, with a focus on typical ageing (DC13), atypical ageing (DC14) and spatial communication and sensory loss (DC15). These positions form part of the SCALA EU-UKRI funded Doctoral Network, and successful candidates will be offered extensive training opportunities, including collaborations with colleagues at the other sites in the network. Experience of experimental methods and ageing research would be an advantage for all three positions.

Candidates should have a good first degree in psychology or a related discipline plus a masters qualification in a relevant discipline (completed or completed before commencement of the position) and should have fluency in English. Please note that in accordance with EU MSCA mobility rules, applications must not have spent more than 12 months out of the last 36 months in the UK prior to commencement of the positions.

These full-time positions are available with a start date of 1^st February 2025 on a fixed-term basis for 36 months.  When applying please indicate the position(s) you are applying for (DC13, DC14, DC15).

• Position 1 (DC13): Describing object location in typical ageing
• Position 2 (DC14): Spatial communication, orientation and memory in people at-genetic-risk of dementia
• Position 3 (DC15): Spatial communication and sensory loss in ageing
