What is it like to have dementia?

You are cordially invited to our next exciting lecture of the “Phenomenology of Dementia and Aging Network” on Monday, 08.05.2023, 14.00-15.00 (CET, online via Zoom), held by Prof. Mark Schweda (Oldenburg).
The title of the talk is: “What is it like to have dementia? Ethical potentials and challenges of contemporary cinematic approaches”
Mark Schweda heads the Department of Ethics in Medicine at the Department of Health Services Research at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. Mark Schweda is concerned with the significance of modern medicine and technology for our understanding of ourselves and our life plans. A special focus is on questions of aging, the course of life, and human temporality in general.
The talk is part of the “Transdisciplinary Approaches to Dementia and Aging – The Lecture Series of the Phenomenology of Dementia and Aging Network“.
For the Reading Group afterwards, we will discuss the text Schweda (2019): “Medical gazes and meteorological metaphors: representations of dementia in contemporary motion pictures”. Please send an e-mail to edzwiza@uni-koeln.de if you want to participate.
