Studies of Blackness and Being Black in Academia
08/06/2022 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
We are delighted to announce that the 2nd Annual UCL Black Doctoral Student Network Conference will take place on Wednesday 8th June 2022.
The conference will showcase the high calibre and wide breadth of research conducted by the university’s black doctoral student cohort. This year’s theme is Studies of Blackness and Being Black in Academia, reflecting our intent to explore the ways in which blackness relates to the research of our network members. This comprises both research directly concerned with blackness, as well as more personal experiences of being black in academia. We have eleven speakers whose research spans from Russian literature to Neuroaesthetics, American horror cinema to game theory models, biliary tract cancer and new financial technologies. We are honoured to welcome our keynote speaker, Dr Lola Solebo, Clinician Scientist and Honorary Consultant at UCL’s Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, as well as lead of the Institute’s Race Equity Group.
The conference will take place virtually via Zoom.
