Quantitative Astrocyte Physiology
10/04/2025 - 11/04/2025
Edificio Fiore di Botta, University of Padua, Padua, Italy – April 10–11, 2025. A satellite event of the EMBO Meeting “Astrocytes: From Molecules to Systems”
A two-day intensive course introducing modeling approaches to study astrocytes’ multiscale physiology from bioinformatics to biophysical modeling and artificial neural networks.
Speaker and Curator
Maurizio De Pittà, Ph.D., is a computational neuroscientist at the Krembil Research Institute, Toronto, renowned for his groundbreaking work in astrocyte physiology. A pioneer in modeling calcium signaling and neuron-astrocyte networks, his contributions have shaped the emerging theory of astrocytes in cognition. Co-editor and co-author of the seminal textbook Computational Glioscience (Springer, 2019), Dr. De Pittà’s research continues to influence the field at the intersection of computational neuroscience and glial biology.
