Dementia-friendly opera performance & workshop
September 13 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
The Parting & Buster’s Trip – Two operatic vignettes adapted from texts by Federico García Lorca. The Parting tells of a man who is leaving home to go on a journey. He’s accompanied by a mysterious old gentleman… Buster’s Trip brainstorms a screenplay for Buster Keaton in which he gets up to all kinds of mischief.
Formed to feature the art of ‘beautiful singing’ in new, small-scale operas, The Music Troupe celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Our shows are often appreciated by people of all ages who have never been to an opera before, as well as by fans of opera and classical music.
This is an informal performance / workshop to which we invite those living with dementia, their carers and their families to attend. Members of the congregation and the wider community are also very welcome. A cast of first-rate opera singers will introduce and present 2 new operas – each lasting less than 15 minutes – and give demonstrations that will be fun and entertaining. Refreshments will be served with a chance to meet the cast. The event will last about 90 minutes in all.
Friday 13 September at 3 pm to 4:30 pm
