BNA Members Meeting
April 24 - April 25
We warmly welcome you to the BNA Members’ Meeting 2024, taking place online on 24th and 25th April 2024. This is a meeting by members for members; an opportunity to get together to discuss your research and – especially – your plans for future work.
Bring your ideas, challenges, thoughts, problems and solutions, so that, as a community, we can do the very best neuroscience!

Session submissions
We are now inviting BNA members to submit proposals for sessions at the Members’ Meeting and especially encourage applications from student and early career members, including talks that are about plans for research, not just results; and aim to create a programme with diversity of geography, gender, topics, ethnicity and career stages.
Submissions are open from Monday 20th November 2023 – Friday 19th January 2024.
We welcome submissions for the following session types:
Rapid Fire (10 x session slots):
Talks should be 12 minutes long (+ time for 1 question from the audience).
Rapid Fire sessions are exclusive to Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Early Career Researcher members.
*Members who presented a talk at the Members’ Meeting 2022 are not eligible.
Research Communication (6 x session slots):
Talks should be 20 minutes long (+ 5 min questions from the audience).
Applications are open to all members. We encourage submissions from Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Early Career Researcher members.
*Members who presented a talk at the Members’ Meeting 2022 are not eligible.
Debate (1 x session slot):
The debate should be 45 minutes in total and should include 2 speakers presenting opposite views of a topic.
It is up to you to propose how to use this time, although it must include the chance for delegates to participate. We suggest opening statements from each speaker for ~10 minutes, followed by 10 min discussion and 15 min audience participation.
*All session participants must be BNA members
Panel Session (1 x session slot):
The panel session should be 60 minutes in total and include up to 4 participants and 1 chair. It is up to you to propose how to use this time, although it must include the chance for delegates to participate. We welcome proposals on a broad range of topics, including:
- Original research
- Neuroscience Teaching & Education
- Sustainability
- Credibility
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Neuroscience
*All session participants must be BNA members
Interactive Workshop (1 x session slot):
The workshop should be 60 minutes in total. This session is intended to be highly engaging and interactive, involving delegate participation.

Safer Spaces Policy for BNA events
All participants at BNA events (including events hosted by other organisations exclusively for BNA members) are required to read and follow the BNA’s Safer Spaces Policy (click to read in full).
