Better Care Moves for Older People

22/02/2024 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

How to support older people care momes event

Join us for the Better Care Moves for Older People launch webinar, a knowledge sharing and networking event for people working in adult social care, family/friend carers, people who use social care, researchers and public members who have interests in the topic. This project, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) School for Social Care Research (SSCR), aims to provide evidence-based resources for supporting older people’s moves between care settings.

Moves into and between care settings are significant life events for many older people, which can affect the well-being of both older people and their family carers. This has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and discharge to assess, which limited choice for many older people and resulted in additional transitions.

Social care researchers and professionals from the University of Kent, East Sussex County Council, UCL and partners are leading this co-production project, in which we have involved older people, family carers and social care practitioners and managers as co-researchers in all stages. This webinar will showcase co-production research findings and free online resources, and engage participants in discussions on how to apply these findings and resources in practice.

Key objectives of the webinar:

· Bring together people who are working in the adult social care sector, people supported by social care, carers, and researchers to share experiences and foster collaboration.

· Review recent co-production research findings and online resources on how to better support moves of older people between and into social care settings.

· Access free online video-based recourses and discuss how to translate research outputs into social care practice.

Don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to the development of evidence-informed practice and hear inspiring stories about social care practitioners’ involvement in adult social care research. Join us for an engaging and informative webinar that will shape the future of care for older people.
