An Embodied-Cognitive Approach to Dementia: Ramifications for Personhood and Care

Lecture by Danielle Petherbridge. The title of the talk is: “An Embodied-Cognitive Approach to Dementia: Ramifications for Personhood and Care”.
Dr Petherbridge is Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Director of the UCD Centre for at University College Dublin. Her primary research interests include phenomenology, social philosophy and medical humanities. She writes in the area of phenomenology and illness, critical phenomenology, and social philosophy. She is currently working on a research project on phenomenological approaches to dementia and is PI of an Irish Research Council New Foundations funded project BodyDementia.
The talk is part of the “Transdisciplinary Approaches to Dementia and Aging – The Lecture Series of the Phenomenology of Dementia and Aging Network“.
For the Reading Group afterwards, we will discuss the text “Petherbridge, D. (2019): Beyond Empathy: Vulnerability, Relationality and Dementia”.
