The EquaDem Network Plus is dedicated to tackling the profound inequalities encountered by individuals living with dementia and their unpaid caregivers in accessing diagnosis and care. This collaborative initiative brings together a diverse mix of experts from academia, health and social care, the voluntary sector, and importantly, includes people living with dementia and their carers, to co-create solutions to these disparities.
With the UK home to over 900,000 people living with dementia—a number expected to increase—the network's focus on collaborative solution development and capacity enhancement is both critical and timely. Through various activities such as networking events, knowledge mobilisation internships, pilot projects, and conferences, the EquaDem Network Plus aims to effect meaningful changes in clinical and social care practices, striving to eliminate barriers to diagnosis and care. Emphasising the significance of public and stakeholder involvement, the network ensures solutions are deeply informed by those with firsthand experience.
By creating a Community of Research and Practice, EquaDem Network Plus aspires to influence policy, improve care delivery, and ultimately enhance the wellbeing of those affected by dementia and their caregivers.
