Tell us a little about yourself:
I am a Research Grants Officer at the Alzheimer’s Society and I manage our portfolio of funded PhD Studentships and Dissemination grants. I support the research grants application process within the Research & Development Directorate and help to select appropriate scientific peer reviewers to ensure that we fund the best research into dementia. I also support our Research Engagement team to ensure we keep the views and needs of people affected by dementia at the heart of our funding decisions.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

Why did you choose to work in dementia?
I believe that dementia research should receive a level of investment that matched the economic and human cost of the condition. In 2012/13 cancer research still received seven times that spent on dementia. Also, I really liked that the society placed such high important on public involvement and engagement in their research strategy. On a personal level, my nan has had Alzheimer’s for over 10 years now and have experienced the impact it can have.
