Clinical-Creative Partnerships to Improve Dementia Care
09/05/2023 @ 9:45 am - 1:00 pm
The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), Alzheimer’s Society (UK) and the Alzheimer’s Association have a shared commitment to invest in the development of brain health leaders to advance knowledge and skills to prevent and mitigate the impact of dementia. They do this each year by supporting a set of pilot awards for emerging Brain Health leaders to support leadership development of Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health through projects that have the potential to improve outcomes in brain health.
Engagement in the arts can play a significant role in Care Models for people living with dementia and their carers to support longer lives, better lived. There are many policies in Ireland that potentially have a bearing on dementia care both within the Health and Arts sectors, however, there is little evidence of cross-disciplinary work. This pilot project will engage with stakeholders and central figures in commissioning, care delivery, music in health facilitation and people living with dementia in Ireland.
The pilot aims to: 1) identify and map the landscape of cross-sector stakeholders, 2) achieve stakeholder input to develop a shared understanding of music and its potential benefits for quality of life for people living with Dementia, 3) produce a document with a set of recommendations and opportunities for cross-sectoral work while, 4) beginning to build a practice based network of cross-sector stakeholders working in creative partnerships in Healthcare Settings and in particular Dementia Care.
Roundtable: A series of 3 interdisciplinary roundtable discussions will be held with participants who are Key Stakeholders in the Arts, Healthcare, Policy and Dementia Care. A light lunch will be provided alongside refreshments throughout.
